Baha’i House of Worship hosts memorial for Violette Haake
Violette Haake, a beloved former member of the International Teaching Centre, passed away on Sept. 24, 2020 in Melbourne, Australia. She was 92 years old.
Haake was born into a Baha’i family in Iran in 1928 and dedicated her life to sharing the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh in the United States, Australia and the many other places she visited in her service as an Auxiliary Board Member, Counsellor and member of the International Teaching Center.
In honoring her memory, the Baha’i House of Worship for the North American Continent will livestream a virtual devotional program on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 7:00 p.m. CST.

After opening prayers and musical selections recorded at the Baha’i House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois, the program will include the reading of messages of condolence from
- the Universal House of Justice, the international governing council of the Baha’i Faith
- the International Teaching Center
- the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of Australia
A series of reminiscences will then be shared by friends who fondly remember her from their service together at the Baha’i World Center in Haifa, Israel:
–former Universal House of Justice member, Kiser Barnes
–former Universal House of Justice member, Hooper Dunbar
–former Universal House of Justice member, Firaydoun Javaheri
–former International Teaching Center member, Penny Walker
A musical selection will be presented by Joan Lincoln, also a former member of the International Teaching Center. The program will close with a prayer for the departed by Sholeh Quinn, niece of Violette Haake.
